Unbelievably Funky Object (UFO)
Applying one-way mirror film to acrylic sheets. My team and I have become exceedingly proficient in window tinting.
The first batch of UFO panels, non-addressable LED strips encased between Mylar film and acrylic.
The bottom half of the first UFO’s panels.
1st UFO assembled.
Panels from the 2nd UFO were lined with aluminum to protect acrylic from damage. The aluminum also increased the space-y-ness by a factor of 42.
The 3rd UFO graduated from wood to a welded steel frame. This design choice decreased the overall weight and allowed for the UFO to be suspended by a truss.
The 3rd UFO’s design improvements include: boltless attachment for acrylic and Mylar sheets (magnets), double-lined addressable LED strips covering less area (more LED’s), and a single face with more area than the previous 10-faced design (it’s bigger).
Currently under construction.
